Fee Schedule & Pricing Transparency

1. How a quote is built
Afrika Cargo Flow is an intermediary platform. Every booking is priced as: Operator costs + Platform administration & management fee + Statutory VAT (15%). The customer sees a single bundled total; the operator sees a payout statement showing the platform fee deduction.
2. Platform administration & management fee
This is the fee Afrika Cargo Flow retains to run the platform, dispatch, support, insurance administration, payment processing, compliance, and bad-debt reserve. It is calculated on the operator subtotal (before VAT).
- Trucking / haulage: 15%
- Warehousing: 12%
- Cross-border & customs coordination: 18%
- Urgent / abnormal load surcharge: +3%
3. Trucking & haulage cost components
- Transport: base fee per truck + per-kilometre rate × distance × number of trucks.
- Fuel: diesel at R36.17 per litre (Wholesale 50ppm, SAPIA/DMRE BFP) × blended consumption of 0.40 L/km (~R14.47/km), updated monthly.
- Loading / offloading: R650 per truck + R45 per pallet + R950 per container handled.
- Cargo insurance: 0.85% of declared cargo value, minimum R350.
- Customs & clearing: quoted per shipment for cross-border legs.
- Surcharges: urgent +18%, refrigerated +12%, hazardous +22%, fragile +R450 per truck.
4. Warehousing cost components
- Storage: R28 per pallet per day (ambient), R78 (chilled), R110 (frozen).
- Handling: R180 per pallet + shelving where applicable + bonded warehouse fees where applicable.
- Security & monitoring: included in the daily rate for standard ambient storage.
- Goods insurance: 0.45% of declared goods value, minimum R180.
5. Statutory VAT
Value Added Tax is charged at 15% on the full subtotal in line with the Value-Added Tax Act, 1991. VAT is not retained by Afrika Cargo Flow; it is remitted to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

Internal payout to operator: Gross R29,220 → Platform fee R4,383 → Net payable to operator R24,837. This breakdown appears on every operator payout statement issued by the platform.

8. Payment processing
- PayFast (cards, instant EFT, SnapScan): ~3.5% per transaction, absorbed by the platform fee — no additional charge to customer.
- Bank EFT / SWIFT: bank charges for the sender's account.
- Escrow: for bookings > R500,000, milestone release (30% / 40% / 30%) applies — no extra charge.
9. Cancellation charges
- More than 48 hours before collection: full refund less 5% admin fee.
- Within 48 hours of collection: 50% cancellation fee.
- After collection: no refund, less unrendered portion of the service.
10. What the platform fee covers
- Dispatch & 24/7 customer support
- Insurance administration & claims handling
- Payment processing & reconciliation
- FICA / KYC, POPIA & compliance overhead
- Platform engineering, hosting, GPS tracking & telemetry
- Sales, marketing & bad-debt reserve
11. Rate changes
Default platform fee percentages may be adjusted from time to time. The rate applicable to a booking is the rate in force on the date the quotation is issued. Material changes will be posted on this page and notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
